Love at first sight !

It was a crisp, beautiful morning. The sky was blueish-orange, a rare sight in Bangalore’s usually cloudy sky. I set out as the birds were chirping to the usual park where I walked every morning. The clear unpolluted air and the greenary got my spirits up.

I took my usual path and then at that moment IT HAPPENED. I saw him. I just could not take my eyes off him. He was running and did not seem to take notice all the admiring glances around him. And LO ! Our glances met and he caught me staring at him. The air was charged with electricity,(atleast from my side)! I never in my wildest dreams believed that I could fall in love at first sight ! I had always mocked poems and people and even Shakespeare’s works for embracing such a phenomenon. For me it was so irrational to even think of surrendering myself to a stranger at first sight!

Atlast I got a hold on myself and started walking to recollect my thoughts. I so badly wanted to go and talk to him! But was it ok to do that at the first instance itself ?
It took me another 2 rounds to convince myself and muster up some courage. Atlast I went up to him and made myself known. He too liked me and allowed me to take pictures of him with my phone camera. He even shook hands with me when . .

ELECTIONS – APRIL 23 2009

Today we all hoped we would be able to make a difference by voting.
Bangalore south has been in the limelight for the past 2 months. The candidates contesting from this area are really good. Capt. Gopinath of Air Deccan Fame is an independent candidate. Ananth Kumar from BJP – a 6 time winner. Krishna Byregowda from Congress, a well educated youth. All these 3 candidates have a very clean image and a lot of positives going for them. Of course a few others are there from other parties like JD(s) who are not worth mentioning here.

We had always been voting for a single party when Mr.Vajpayee was the leader. The pub attack against women really bothered us this time. We didn’t want a Hindu Taliban(i know many people dont agree with this term) to emerge in Karnataka. I was impressed by captain’s campaigning which was and is inspirational and which reflected his true intentions . He was campaigning against terrorism(UPA failed here), communalism(BJP failed here) and corruption(all the parties failed here……..and don’t forget the father-son duo here in Karnataka).

For people who didn’t know about captain Gopinath’s campaigning strategies, here are a few points which inspired the youth –

1. No fanfare on his arrival with banners, crackers, pamphlets strewn around the area and people (usually people hired ) shouting slogans.
2. No fancy cars for him during campaigning…….he really created a buzz by traveling in namma BMTC bus and meeting youngsters and middle-class people.



Many people believed that voting for Captain might split votes and result in hung assembly. Yes that might be true……..but lets face it that it is already inevitable with 4 fronts cropping up. My point is….lets atleast encourage bold people like Captain and vote for them. We need more people like him to clean up our political system.

The voter turnout was only 50% which I felt was less considering the awareness campaigns that were done to educate people about their rights and the difference that they would make.

Of course many names were missing which is another issue we must deal with .

I am keeping my fingers crossed for the results in Bangalore south. I would be the happiest if captain wins. But it is a known fact that Ananth kumar has more chances of winning. I definitely would’nt mind if Byregowda also wins. I just hope the Captain does not lose hope with the results but continue to take part in active politics.



For a change people in Bangalore south had 3 good options. But at the centre the picture is gloomy. None deserve to be there. Just hoping for the best and eagerly awaiting the counting day for results. May the best man win !

Slumdog Crorepati

Hats off to the director for making such a realistic, heart-wrenching movie.
This is definitely one of the must-see films in your life. If you haven’t watched it yet, please read this blog after u have watched the movie.

This Movie exposes the dirty underbelly, which I am sure exists in all countries, not just India. So all you people who are whining and crying that its shows India badly, please don’t have such a narrow view of the movie . I strongly feel that people should be exposed to such bitter truths which exists in life, for their own good.

Ok , now coming back to the movie , we planned to go to this movie just 1 hour before the show started on 26th Jan night. Good we didn’t have any second thoughts about it , because this movie is just simply brilliant.

Every actor in this movie has done a great job. I don’t want to spoil the review by writing the it badly. So I have taken a few points from Rajeev Masand’s review of CNN-IBN. So here it goes  - - -

18-year-old Jamal Malik (played by Dev Patel) is an orphan who has spent his life scavenging on the streets, until he lands a spot as a contestant on Kaun Banega Crorepati, where he makes a killing. The host of the show (played by a bullying, bellowing Anil Kapoor) mocks Jamal for his low-class roots, and has him arrested on suspicion of cheating – after all, how could an ordinary chai-wala know the answers to all these tough questions?
Sitting there tied up and being thrashed around by the cops, Jamal reveals how each question corresponds to a specific life lesson from his tragic past. His is a horrific tale of watching his mother being killed in front of his eyes, narrowly escaping mutilation himself, and losing his childhood friend to a prostitution ring.
The characters hold you spellbound by their interactions, particularly the film's three protagonists – Jamal, his older brother Salim, and their childhood companion Latika.
Ayush Mahesh Khedekar as little Jamal is a face you're unlikely to forget anytime soon; he's the lifeblood of Slumdog Millionaire and he's complemented perfectly by Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail and Rubina Ali who play Salim and Latika with just the right mix of vulnerability and street-smartness.
Dev Patel as the all-grown-up teenage Jamal has a charming presence, even if his London accent grates when he responds to the game-show host's repeated taunts about his humble origins. Madhur Mittal brings a kind of Bollywood flair to the part of the older Salim, and Freida Pinto plays the teenage Latika with such wide-eyed innocence.
Slumdog Millionaire wouldn't be half the film if it weren't for Anthony Dod Mantle's breathless, dazzling cinematography which brings alive the slums and indeed Mumbai city too.
Much credit must go to AR Rahman for contributing a sumptuous soundtrack which proves a worthy accompaniment to the film's crackling narrative, which ends with the big item number at a railway station no less.


Ten Oscar nominations and four Golden Globes aside, Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire is an enjoyable flight of fantasy, a modern day fairytale if you like.
Ok, so you want my rating? Its definitely 5/5.
Atleast now go and see the movie if you haven’t watched it. Enjoy !

The Year That Was - 2008

Some of the best moments of the year –
1. Nagarhole trip for 4 days after 5th sem exams.

2. A beautiful gift on Valentine s day – a job offer !

3. The miracle of passing in 6th sem exams.

4. Attending my classmate’s wedding.

5. Final year class trip to kerala.

6. My last birthday celebration while in college with my friends (the third consecutive one )

7. Stanley David s and Infosys s SOFT SKILLS PROGRAM with Noor Fathima .

8. Getting Attendance shortage for the first time 


A few nostalgic and sad moments –

1. I have already finished my 3 years in B.E ……..only 1 last sem remaining.

2. Have finished all the lab sessions . will miss them badly.

3. SLS left BNMIT…….still find it difficult to believe.

4. Mumbai terror attack. I felt sick and disgusted of being a part of Indian democracy for electing such useless leaders to lead the country. The whole system must be changed.

5. Why should the recession come when our batch is about to pass out?? Placements scene was bad this year.

6. Had to start the new year studying for an exam 


Of course there were so many other joyous and nostalgic moments…but some memories cannot be described. It can only be CHERISHED !

My First Drive – Thiruvannamalai

19-09-2008 / 20-09-2008

Today had antenna and microwave lab . I was just waiting for it to get over soon. Came home by 12 and started getting ready for the much delayed journey to Thiruvannamalai. Dad, mom and me were going by car. I packed all the essential music cds.

Left home by 1pm and reached the Karnataka border after crossing electronics city and Attibele at 2.45 pm. Crossing into Tamil Nadu we took the NH-7 route. It was a 4 - lane road and well maintained. Suddenly dad popped up the question ‘Can you drive here? ‘.I was dumbstruck for a few minutes and accepted the challenge. This was the first time I was going to drive in high speeds. .

And it was an amazing experience. The beautiful view of fields and rolling hillocks. Nice weather with cool breeze. Nice music playing in the music system. Amma peacefully sleeping in the back seat. And dad comfortably guiding me through the protocols and nuances of highway driving. Overtaking cars, tractors and trucks at speeds of 100-120kms was definitely a heady feeling.(it was indica ,so could nt go more faster).

I suddenly realized why people were so crazy about long drives. Now I could truly understand their feeling. A feeling of breaking away from mundane things in life , with an independent choice of speeds, routes, music, people around you etc and going where ever you feel like. Breaking away from strings in life that strains you.

Definitely it was memorable drive. Reached Tiruvannamalai safely. while returning back also I drove. Was happy to know that I had passed in the driving test under dads evaluation.

And yes, I am definitely planning for more long drives.

08-08-08 !

This is the day that occurs only once in a millennium. This is the day that signifies a lot for the students of VTU B.E students passing out in 2009. This day is the beginning of the end, of our journey, as a student of VTU. This day marks the beginning of last year of my college life !

Am I happy? Or am I sad? I just don’t know.

Frankly college for the last 3 years was fun except of course the exam parts. Each semester exam is a story in itself. But looking at the cheerful side I just loved the last 3 years.

I have loved every single minute of the college experiences, each teaching me a new lesson every time. And I don’t want to end it. I many never have such beautiful days again in my life.

But then, something in me is impatient waiting for it to get over, so that I can face the harsh, cruel world outside. Is it the adventurous side in me or rather the sheer over-confidence and stupidity that I can face that world, now being safely protected in a cozy cocoon safeguarded against it by parents, friends and teachers?

Again I don’t know. Life is always unexpected. The things we least expect happens.

As some famous philosopher says it’s a paradox. LIFE IS CONSTANT OF CHANGES.

Sigh! How I wish I could have predicted the future and be prepared to face it. It would have made things a lot easier. Like all students of VTU wish , I too want my last year to be a memorable one, a nostalgic one. 08-08-08 signifies the day where in WE would SOON be given the test TO FLY INDEPENDENTLY OUT OF OUR NESTS. This occurs only once in everybody s life, for me it is 08-08-08 !
